About this session:
Political institutions still work to the rhythm of press conferences, briefings, statements and news cycles. But audiences increasingly encounter politics somewhere else: through creators, short-form video, podcasts, personal brands and algorithm-driven feeds. A political story can now start with a politician, be reframed by a journalist, go viral through a creator, explode on social media and get to the evening news in a twisted form, all within a few hours. So who actually decides what becomes a political story? And who gets people to care? If institutions cannot control algorithms, media coverage or audience reactions, what does “media strategy” mean today? This debate puts journalists, social-first reporters and political creators in the same room and turns the traditional panel upside down. Rather than asking everyone to agree that “the media landscape is changing”, we put their different approaches to the test.
