Ermes
David is a senior official in the German federal government, overseeing political strategy across education and family affairs. Since the Merz government took office in 2025, he has served as Chief of Staff and Director-General for Political Affairs at the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. He leads a directorate of eight divisions, responsible for strategic planning, legislative and cabinet coordination, inter-ministerial coordination, parliamentary liaison, stakeholder engagement, and strategic and online communications. Previously, he was Head of Communications and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Science and Cultural Affairs in Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, and before that served as spokesperson for the CDU (Christian Democratic Union) at the federal level after being an MP‘s Personal Assistent in the German Bundestag.
